That's an incredibly fast time from Riley Hough! 14:37.1! Ritz was ~14:40 right?
That record has stood against many great runners, even Grant Fisher couldn't quite beat it (though he had rough conditions). Good things to come from him I hope :)
Awesome. 14:37 to 14:41.. FYI, Grant Fisher ran 14:42.
That Hough kid raced almost 20 XC races in 2020!!! Wow.
Hough is a real stud. Beat Hobbs Kessler last fall (albeit not head to head, but ran faster on the same day and same course). Probably the only guy in the nation right now I'd pick to beat NBP's whole top 4 (maybe Sherry too). I would say he is the favorite for Foot Locker if he decides to go.
Forgot to mention, my cousin’s kid was in division 3, the winner there ran fourth fastest all time (14:52) and won by almost a minute.

Let's hope. There can never be too many footlocker champions from Michigan.
Told ya Ritz' record was a fluke. 🤣🤣🤣
How does this compare with Colin Sahlmans 14:29 at Woodward Park?

Fairly equivalent. Sahlman was rated at a 199 for that, in 2019 Hough would've received a 198 (no speed rating for this year yet). Records held by Ritz and Fernandez are both going to be very strong, and likely pretty equivalent. It makes sense that Fernandez's record is a bit stronger here, because he ran it at the CA state meet vs an invitational.
At the race Riley ran alone for two miles. Only kid who could challenge was in another division, so with competition the time would be close.

I thought I read on another thread that he was going to Runninglane.
When I first read this I thought it was Dathan’s 5k XC HS record of 14:10. This is a “meet” or “high school course” record, not a “high school record”.

I don't think Hough can touch 14:10 but I'm thinking he can feasibly go 14:20's at MIS with decent weather. I mean the kid did solo a 14:49 last year in relatively warm conditions
I do think just below 14:10 is possible at RunningLane if Newbury Park and Riley Hough peaked and ran the perfect race. That's going to be a very fast race. We could see 3 or 4 sub 14:20s if all goes well. I definitely think that record could go down if not this year, next year. Newbury Park returns 3 or their top 4 in 2022 and that's scary to consider what they might do then.
