Hello all! So I’m a 29 year old male and I ran XC in high school and college. My last season was 2017. I took about 4 years off and I started running 2 months show obviously I’m not in the shape I’m in anymore and I ran my first 5k last week and even though I placed 3rd in my age group I left discouraged because my buddy got 1st and this was the first time he has really competed in anything running wise. I was coaching him up and getting him ready and well he got 1st and best me. Granted he is 2 years younger than me but still. He also trained longer and I even hurt my leg and had to take a week off which was the week before the race. Am I being to hard on myself and am I too old to get back in shape?
