For reasons I won't get into I need to wear shoes that are slick on the bottom. And softer is better, too.
What are my choices, for a daily trainer?

ON. Have no tread and are deadly slick on wet or icy pavement. Not very soft, though.
HOKA has in the past had shoes with minimal tread, maybe still do. Bondi? Soft as a pillow.
Hoka Mach 4.

+1 on On. I use Cloudflow in my rotation and it’s not the softest but Cloudswift is stupid plush and Cloudstratus is well cushioned too with even more stack height but slightly firmer than Cloudswift.
You can absolutely count on all On shoes to be slippery. :)

Yep. Beacons. 6mm drop is better on the knees that 10mm like most shoes nowadaze. If you knee is a problem consider trying a 4mm-0 drop shoe. Worked for me.
Hoka Mach 4. Smooth on the bottom, a little less squishy than the Clifton but still nice and cushioned.
Do they still make Nike Free runs?
Get the free run. very soft. no tread.
Skechers razor 3s are pretty smooth and cheap, nitro foam is pretty soft
Adidas audios pro are totally smooth, but it’s pricey
New balance rebel v2 is really soft and is pretty smooth.
