Third last year here in 57.49 where the first four times are still the four fastest all-time, Rhonex Kipruto is my choice as winner. Has three of the top 5 times over 10k on the roads including the WR.

The winner among the women is a race in 3 that I think will be a foretaste of many more clashes between them over the next few years. I have said elsewhere that I believe in five years we may look back and marvel at how far two of these have progressed both WR's for this and the classic distance. I am choosing here for Gidey to follow up her amazing 15k WB from almost two years ago and make a phenomenal debut here.

Second in his warm up for his debut over the classic distance in the same city in December will be Andamlak Belihu. Second in Delhi last November in 58.54 after 5th at Worlds.

So second, I believe, will be Yalemzerf Yehualaw, the WR holder from Antrim Coast in August in 63.44

Next in my mind will be Muktar Edris. Fourth is also where he finished in Delhi last year in 59.04.

I believe Kamworor is also racing, is he not? Perhaps I’m mistaken?

I think Edris can run in the 58:20-58:40 range. He has that quick striding action conducive to road running, economical. He’s been running for many years though so I’m not sure if he is still at his best? Do you remember Merga, fellow Ethiopian, who faded from the scene after a few years at the forefront?

Kamworor is doing the full marathon in December, but not the half I believe.

Edris is the winner of the World Champs 5000 on the track in both 2017 and 2019

Fifth might be Philemon Kiplimo, same placing as here last year in 58.11

Next should be Sheila Kiprotich, second here last year in 65.39. Has an amazing record over 10k on the roads, too.

Spanish entrants shouldn't affect top 7 men or ladies
Sixth to finish in his debut might be Rodgers Kwemoi. Usually based in Japan, was 7th at the Olympics over 10000 on the track and 4th at the last Worlds over the same trip. Won over ten miles on the roads in Tilburg in 2017 in 45.03

Sixth may be the winner from 2019 here, Senbere Teferi. That was in 65.32, still her PB. Broke the WR over 5k last month, 14.29. Sixth at the Olympics over 5000m.

Next could be Kelvin Kiptum, sixth here last year in his PB of 58.42. Won Lens this last July in 59.35
Seventh lady should be Brenda Jepleting, winner over the half at the Adidas HQ in Germany last month in 66.52. Sixth here last year after second in Prague in 67.07
