A buddy of mine sucked me into running an "ultra" race with him in 5 weeks. The format of the race is basically an 8-hour all-you-can-runathon ie there is a 6-mile loop and you try to complete as many loops as possible. So it's basically impossible to DNF. But I've never run anything more than a half-marathon.
I'm a total hobby jogger. This week I'll finish off 37 miles with a 13-mile long run. The mileage breakdown was 5-6-6-13-7 with one of the 6-mile runs being a progression/tempo run. Otherwise the rest of the miles were done at a 9:30-10min pace.
How can I improve in 4 weeks and not totally suck at this event?
