She's been in the UK training now for weeks, and was saying how well she'd been feeling, looking for a comeback. I was pulling for her to have a positive race, but:

I’m very sorry to hear that. I didn’t know she was still running/competing. Hoping the best for her.
She is a sub elite runner who reached the edge of elite for a very brief period. in all reality, she just isn't good enough. Most of us aren't.
i should say edge of world class.
i don't want to get into an argument over what is elite vs sub-elite, non-elite, etc.
This is almost as shocking as the front page spelling error that’s up right now

Seems like she went over there a while ago, but she did make a few posts weeks / months about how she didn't have the "ideal" build up and seemed like she was destined to pull out of racing it. Not shocking given her recent (maybe whole) running career. Wild to go over there to train for the race but then skip the race. Is she back with Hudson?
I'm sorry, who are we talking about?

I am pretty sure I am non-elite
What is the sickness she is talking about? Unfortunate for her. After her breakthrough race, she has been all over the place.

She almost got to the edge but that edge is has moved up a bit during the pandemic. A lot of people in her position made the jump by better using the down time to train properly.

I am happy. I just don't think you should be posting on these boards calling women fat in a sport that lends itself to eating disorders.

This. She had a nice run (pun intended) and got to the upper echelon of national class for a bit and now her 15 seconds are long past. That's about the consistency level you can expect out of anyone who links up with Brad Hudson. She was definitely part of a growing wave that has risen higher and passed her by now. Laura Thweatt, Emma Bates, Kellyn Taylor, Jordan Hasay seem to be in the same boat: gained relevance in the post-Deena era but never quite got to that next level with Shalane Flanagan, Kara Goucher, Sara Hall, Molly Huddle, Emily Sisson and now the new leader in the clubhouse, Molly Seidel.
she was laying down some great runs on Strava, but then it got quiet.
I'm bummed, I am a big Allie fan.

Yeah her announcement kind of came out of nowhere after some solid training...too bad, I was hoping she'd put in a solid run too.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
