25F. I consistently trained 50-60 miles every week from the end of February until August 30th (the day I got injured). I ran a 39:51 10k on May 2nd and an 18:36 5k on July 1st. Some of the workouts I did right before I got injured included 5 x 1 mile @6:14 average, a 5.6 mile tempo @6:33 average, and 4 x 2k @6:15 average. I was preparing for a 10k race on October 17th , and my coach was thinking low 39s or high 38s based on my workouts.
Unfortunately, I got injured on August 30th. I couldn't do any activity whatsoever for 5-6 days. Then, I had to spend the next 10+ days after that doing insane bike workouts instead of running because I was still too injured. Basically, after my run on August 30th, I didn't run again until September 15th. I crossed trained well but I don't think it was enough.
Since then I've felt like a fish out of water. Last Monday I did 2.6 miles at 6:28 pace and thought I was gonna puke...literally could not make it to the 3 miles I had set out to do. Last Wednesday I did 4 x 1 mile at 6:21 average and it was so hard. Not only am I not going to hit high 38s/low 39s on Oct 17th, I don't even think I can break 40 at this point. Am I being dramatic, or is the 17th really too close to make up for lost time?
