we where going to go to eastbay regional but as an 8th grader you have to run in the 3k, at running lane they are allowed into the 5k. maybe next year we will look into eastbay again.

Holy smokes look at those fields, not t sure why anyone would choose Footbay or Eastlocker over this.

The reasons for running EB is pretty obvious. Running agains the best field isn’t the top priority for everyone and the EB fields are going to be great regardless of how good the RL meet is.
Why does it appear there is a movement by the RL people to actively recruit other teams and individuals to the meet? I don’t ever remember lobbying to get runners to NXN from FL.
Please let us know if you really don’t understand why someone should choose EB and I’d be happy to start the list of reasons. Otherwise, enjoy Alabama and the meet. It looks like it will be a good one.

I'd love for you to give me some reasons, but I know they will be the same tired old reasons that anyone else ever gives. It's about the tradition of racing at Balboa and being a foot locker finalist. But what I say to that is foot locker didn't happen last year and it surely didn't hurt any of those kids stock as far as recruitment goes. And when huge companies can't do right by the kids but hosting an event or moving it to a less restrictive venue then they clearly didn't mt care about the kids. And another thing I would say is traditions are made to be broken and what our sport needs more now than ever is inclusivity not exclusivity and only taking the top "X" kids whether it's 8 or 10 it doesn't really matter.
Ask any kid what they want, I know cause I have 2 teens who currently run, neither are standouts, they chose the race not me. They want to race fast courses and they want to run against the best. Only one post season race provides both this year. 50-60+ guys will go under 15 at the Runninglane event. 25+ ladies under 17. Magical things will happen at Runninglane this year, who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Only a fool or a kid who is being led astray by brainwashed parent/coach.
This is laughable. Point number one is, your kids aren’t good enough to qualify for EB, so they didn’t really choose.
Here’s a start to your list:
San Diego over Huntsville
The gear and swag you get is not comparable
The trip is paid for
Close, quality interaction with pros
Individualized attention
Close bonding with other participants
More of a known for college coaches
Yes, there is history and tradition
You sound angry that anyone would would choose EB and sound personally jilted by the fallout of the pandemic and blame it on race organizers.
Enjoy Alabama. I’m sure your kids will have a great time with the masses. To each their own.
Alabama, the hot bed of XC..... Hilarious
You are laughable, you think any kids today care about what washed up pros of 15-20 years ago do? Kids care about their current peers and maybe the people a few years ahead of them, that is it. You are out of touch.
And the reality is 99.9999% of HS runners aren't making it to Balboa. So if you are the 11-15th guy or girl in a stacked region, is that really telling college coaches anything about you? No, but being the 15th fastest guy or girl out of the West and going to a huge race like Runninglane actually tells you lot more about a kids ability to compete in large races (similar to NCAAs) where they likely won't be all American there first couple of years.
Like I said, you'd give me the same tired old reasons and you delivered. Go to bed.

man, I'll take that bet all day. what are you smoking besides RunningLane marketing copy?
Ok bro, you seem to know it all. Like I said, enjoy Alabama. Maybe if one of your kids gets fast enough to make the decision to attend EB or not, you can criticize someone else for picking a really great meet with a ton of advantages. I guess only the fools, like you say, will enjoy the same old tired experiences in San Diego at EB.
Have a great time in Huntsville. There is probably a really good Applebee’s where you and your average kids can wait for a couple hours to have their pre-race meal with the masses.
You know, I'm wrong Huntsville looks like a terrible place. NASA, FBI, Missile Defense Agency, DIA, and a host of other big tech govt agencies, not to mention all the big time corporations, Raytheon, Lockheed, Boeing, Blue Origin to name a few.
I bet they only have Applebee's though, you right and just maybe a Ruby Tuesdays.

You know your list is BS when Fayetteville, AR is number 4. Definitely a better vacation destination than San Diego. You’re obviously happy with your choice, so have a great time! The EB kids will suffer through.
Wow, you seem really passionate about Huntsville and the RunningLane meet. If that's your jam, good on you. Probably don't need to come on so strong with someone who prefers the EB meet. I'm sure there has to be one or two that aren't fools or being led astray by a brainwashed coach or parent, but just thought the EB meet seemed better and maybe doesn't have the same priorities you do.
Is there a reason you are so invested in this meet or is there someone specific you are trying to convince to attend the meet? Did EB do something personal to you that makes you harbor such animosity? It's odd that a parent of two non stand out kids would care so much about where others decide to run.
I would bet 15 girls go sub 17.
I suppose I did come on a bit strong. If I'm being honest with myself and everyone else I'm just sick and tired of all the cancellations of meets, road races, the Olympics without fans, etc. And I personally felt that FL and Nike could have done something for the kids last year and they did nothing. And now a year later Nike cancels NXN and FL was really late to announce. But at the end of the day more opportunities for the kids is better. So if that means 2-3 great post season options then ultimately the sport wi be better off.

I hear ya. Pandemics suck. Hoping everyone gets to take advantage of whatever situation they think is best this year and has a great experience. Nice job by RunningLane to fill a void. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out if Nike decides to bring NXN back next year. I have a feeling the post season landscape has changed permanently.
Garmin sponsoring RL Nationals. Good to see a big boy company seeing the value.

Someone should post a list to decode the club names into the high schools they represent.
