I would think anything less than a WR would be a huge disappointment to LRC. I expect lots of “devestated” threads for anything other than 2:01. A win would be great regardless of time. I hope he does well and is satisfied with his race.

A win or it’s a failure regardless of the time
Per wiki:
On the world stage he has 26 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. He can DNF Berlin and not be a failure at distance racing.
One race does not make a career.

wikipedia is run by the democratic fake news media. This is LetsRun. We have different- and higher- standards. Remember Kipchoge at London last year? If you don't win every race with a record, youre a loser. But also, if you win, you're a doper.
Since the Oprah standard is 4hr 29min, a time of 4hr 28 should suffice for me to consider him not a failure.

Oprah is so strong and brave. Too bad she's not a mother.
He wins no matter what. Nothing left to prove, really.

There is nothing he could do in this race that dethrones him from being one of the greatest, probably the single greatest, distance runner of all time.
Sub 2:07

Nor does one marathon win make him the GOAT marathoner, which is what many oddities here would want you to believe were he to top the podium in Berlin.
There is no possible outcome of this one race that would make me think that Bekele is a failure.
What is the world best for someone 39 y.o. or older?
That.

There's nothing Bekele can do, no matter how bad in London, to make me think "he's a failure." If he has a bad race, he has a bad race. But no bad race, regardless of how bad, can make me think he's a failure. His accomplishments are already in the books and they are legendary. One of the best ever.

Nothing Bekele can do will make me think he is a failure. However, you not knowing the race is in Berlin instead of London sort of makes you one.
Finishing.
Why would he be a failure?

He wouldn't. Isn't that the OP's point?
For the race. A failure for the race. I didn’t think I’d have to be that explicit. Sorry for the confusion.
Understood, bro, guess some interpreted it differently 🙄
I think anything sub 2.05 would be a good result, anything above would signal he is too old to be chasing the record.
Weather predicted as cloudy 14C/58F, wind light so perfect conditions.
Just noticed humidity 92% 😳😣
