I haven't seen anyone call him the GOAT of the marathon. He's the overall distance GOAT for sure. I agree with the other poster on how overblown his DNFs are (remember he got pushed down at the start of Dubai by some nobody, I don't think he should be penalized for that one) but he also has three DNS on top of that so it's pretty fair to doubt him. What's really interesting is the fact that Haile had no critique of Bekele's fitness this time around. All things considered he's my all time favorite runner to watch, i'd like to see him break the WR but doing that is not likely I think. I'm rooting for him anyway and I hope to see him race in person in NYC (also unlikely).
