How else could we have done it? Southern California has 50 weeks on sunshine each year. No wonder. The best and the brightest live in Southern California.

Cal Poly, Harvard, Chicago. Any advice?
US Top Secret information is not available to applicants nor academic advisors. But as you indicate, the defense industry if mostly in Southern California and Bay Area.
I started my career in the military (rarely defense) industry in Southern California in the late 1970s and it is almost all gone from that area.
Raytheon and Boeing still have a building each south of LAX, due to purchase of previous companies that were support operations for their main operations in SC and elsewhere, and SpaceX (which as far as I know is not a military contractor) took over a substantial portion of the old Northrup main facility. That is most of it when it comes to the big stuff.
Don't be mean to the So Cal defense industries. In the 1950s, 500,000 were murdered by the US Army in Nevada Nuclear Tests. Including actor John Wayne. So Cal hasn't recovered from the massive expense of nuclear fallout radiation and poisoning. Have Mercy on So Cal please.
Study something useful.
We don't need more warfare and I am tired to pay for it all.
Learn to engineer something useful and not something which stuffs the pockets of some and leave everybody else dead.
Cali has the only top schools in Hell for that sorta Evil and the mostest farout weapons and aircraft and missiles and star wars ideas ever imagined by Satan
You can't find a list?
Maybe shouldn't apply to M.I.T then. Or any on your....list.
Kidding.
