I’m running my third marathon in a little under two weeks (October 2). From May to late August, I was the fittest I’ve ever been. I’m not fast compared to most on this site, but I was averaging 6:20 pace for 20+ mile runs with no problem. My tempo runs were all 5:30, and my easy days rarely went over 6:40. My mileage was about 90-100 for the last 2 months. The thing is, I’ve gotten gradually slower the last few weeks. For the last two weeks, I’ve only been able to manage easy runs at 7:20-7:50 pace. I just can’t do workouts anymore, and my easy days are so slow. My legs just feel dead, and my hr is much higher than it used to be at slower paces. I take an iron supplement everyday. I’m wondering if I really screwed up and did all my easy days too fast. Did I overtrain or did I just somehow get out of shape? I was really hoping to run sub 2:40 (my pr from several years ago) next Saturday. Anyway, with about 1.5 weeks before the race, I would really appreciate any recommendations to get myself feeling like I did before.
