45 is not old, and 17:00 for a 45 yo is not slow, so, No.

Would like to hear how this turns out.
Good luck. I have to admire your determination. Hope it goes well for you.
I have Nike Portland Xc on Saturday, I can do it that night or Sunday.
Just show up to the 5k cross race at Lents Park Saturday morning. Sure it will be a little harder off the track but there should be plenty of guys running near that pace. Course isn’t too hilly neither. Other fast masters guys too.
I'll bring wavelights and drive a fan behind you for 1k.

Like the other poster said, stumptown might be a good idea if it's not wet. Think it's a flat course with pretty firm ground and based on previous non covid years, plenty of guys to run with around that pace
I’m definitely going to do it on a track, certainly no bias as to who the rabbit is, male or female, would just like the help as I believe I can do it, I’ll be ready, rested and have Friday as race day in my build up. I only run every other day been doing that for a year after years off so the last 12 months have been a fun experiment. I ran 17:21 solo in Eugene about 6 weeks ago.
Wish I could help, but I'm way older and way slower. Good luck brother.
I hear there is a runner looking for work in Portland. Rumor is she hangs out at the local burrito truck.

I would if I were in shape to run that time, but if I lived there, I'd offer to run the first two miles, otherwise I don't think I'd be able to survive the last one hahaha. I ran a 5k recently and ran the first mile in 5:30 and the second mile I hit 11:30, so I'm sure I could keep a flat 17 pace for two, the last mile I'd eat sh*t

Nothing you said indicates that you could go through two miles in 10:56.

I could definitely hit 10:56 on track. I ran a 18:42 5k, running the first mile in 5:30, second hitting it 11:35, then last well, I was defeated. I'm pretty sure if i was on a track, had spikes, I could definitely hit that.
Where is Jamin
I don't think 17:00 is slow, or 45, old. But maybe that's because I'm slower and older.
I'm available after 6:00ish on Friday. Happy to meet you where you choose after then!
17 flat at age 45 is not slow.
I'm curious - are you going to ultimately run an official 5000 on the track? I'm sort of in a similar predicament and would hate to run a great effort and not have it count in online results.

You were defeated by the second mile! 5:30-6:05-6:30-37” for an 18:42 5k does not suggest you’re capable of 5:28-5:28, let alone establishing and maintaining an even pace. Not saying it’s impossible, but your 5k is surely not evidence that it’s likely.

Do you really think he really thinks it’s slow for that age?
But why anyone would want to pay to run a paced time trial, I’ll never understand. If I ran 17 at 45 in a race, that’d be cool.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
