Nope. I wasn’t even expecting a 4:16-4:17 kick from Leo tbh. That was downright insane

WTF, are the twins gonna be better than Nico? Will they follow him to NAU?

Newbury Park’s top 2 in the rated race were faster than their 6/7 in the Sweepstakes race.
So 7 under 15:00.

And they return 3 guys under 14, 2 more under 15, and another 15:09 for next year. That’s 6 solid guys already.
Coach Brosnan just pointed out NP now has the top 5 fastest times at 3 miles in hs history.

Has to be a short course - final mile in 4:16? Seriously? Faster last mile than his 8:43 on the track. Gotta be short.
I don't think so, besides up front the depth of times was kinda slow. My team finished top 3 in the rated race a few years ago (same course) and our team time would have been 4th in sweepstakes tonight

I think the course is longer this year (based off day 1 and the slow times run last night). Expect a lot of kids to go home devastated. Newbury park will dominate but no one is getting close to 13:39 this year.
That sure didn’t age well.
Ok other than Newbury park results from this year we’re slower than previous years by a wide margin. Making what NP did all the more impressive.
We just witnessed the most dominating high school cross country team ever. I know Great Oak is maybe down this year, but that much difference... sheesh. And not just the Young’s and Salhmans, if you take their next five I think they still win.
Take off anyone named Sahlman or Young from their history and you wouldn’t even know who Sean Brosnan is.
Without those 2 families tonight they don’t even win. That is with their 5th being a transfer from Oaks Christian and their 6th was slated to attend Saugus.
What high school was the Sahlman family supposed to attend? The Young’s? Wasn’t Newbeery Park.
With all that said, that is without a doubt the most impressive performance I have seen in HS cross by a boys team. If they are healthy they win nationals by a lot.

Apologize they roughly would be 207 score... but still to take away your top 4 and be that close to winning...
The girls also got the team win - Sam McDonnell also got second individually with a 15:54, beating some big names such as Lauren Ping and Sadie Engelhart.
The mile was off had kids splits showing them closing their last mile in 5:08 after running 11:05 for the first two. So he probably didn't run a 4:16 last mile. More likely he ran a 4:27 mile which is still fast.

Regardless, top for speed ratings 194-197 on one team

WELL ITS A GOOD THING HE IS THE COACH OF THOSE TWO FAMILIES BECAUSE THEYRE PUTTING DOWN SOME PRETTY GOOD TIMES FOR HIM ARENT THEY? POOR LITTLE CRYBABY LOSER GOT BEAT BY SEAN BROSNAN IN COLLEGE AND NOW IS ANGRY THAT HIS ATHLETES ARE FINDING SUCCESS
For some perspective on how good this team is, look at 2019 results in the same meet for Great Oak and Newbury Park who ended up 1-2 at NXN. This team appears 20-30 seconds faster at their 2-3-4 runners

It's America. Have no issue if families want to uproot lives for temporary glory. Free country.
The last mile is not a mile. I would guess maybe .9. Just look at everyone’s final split. I have never seen a girl’s last mile under 5 minutes. There were several with that final mile split in the sweepstakes race.
I totally agree. Not to mention Sean Brosnan coaching other guys under well under 9 min in the 3200m and the Newbury Park girls are a top nationally ranked team in the county being lead by a 15:54 last night.
Bottom line is no one has ever done what this team is achieving right now. It’s not easy coaching these boys and girls to a high level. No matter what their names are.

Or it could be thanks to Bronsan that you know their names. Talent does not translate to success always. Sure if he took a Freshman at 18:30 would they be running sub 14, no, but when do you ever see that? The great coaches are not those who simply take unlikely individuals to glory, but rather take the talent they have and exceed expectations. No one predicted Leo would break his brother’s record last night. Their were doubts they would all get under 14. Who cares if they would attend a different school. If they had would you be talking about them today? Kids and parents bought into his style. That is fine, they can do that. Does not mean other teams cannot work hard or feel proud of what they accomplish. Tell me a great coach people know well who did not have talented athletes.
Nico ran 18:00 as a frosh so maybe a bad example 🤣
