Background to my situation:
I graduated college in December 2020 and haven’t really run consistently since cross country season ended which was November of 2020. I was a decent college runner I guess, 1:55 800, 4:02 1500, 14:48 5k, 30:47 10k. These were all from my freshman year as I was always injured for track other than that year. I want to get back into shape and start racing again but running 7 minute pace for 5 miles feel like an all out effort nowadays. I’ve also gained 15-20 pounds (used to race around 150, I’m 168ish now. I’m 6’3 though). I guess my question is whether or not it’s realistic for me to be in sub 16 5k shape by April or may and if so what do I need to do to get there. I’ve been running 15-20 miles a week for the past month or so but I’m not really sure what I need to do to get back into race shape or how long it will take
