What a close by Omanyala, he had “that form” at speed.
Ridiculous, of course—but whatever. I still enjoy the TdF, so...
But Bromell 2021, LMAO

what are you talking about? wind and altitude adjustments are talked about in every single sprinting thread. It is important to talk about them. They are objective variables.

Brommell performing when it doesn't matter again.
He cycled incorrectly in that the benefits hit in the spring and end of season.
Bromell’s return from injury obviously affected his ability to accurately time his peak, I suspect he’ll have that worked out by next year.
Omanyala’s time makes no sense on any level. Even at altitude, if he’s talented enough to be dropping a 9.77 at the end of the season, then his training cycle was clearly off and he needs to switch coaches, or this is a fluke. It’s also only his 3rd sub-10 ever. I suspect he won’t live up to expectations next year.
Rewatching this race, looks like Bromell’s top end form falls apart in the last 5 to 10 metres. His 9.80 at trials looked a lot cleaner. I wouldn’t place much weight on these times.

Yes.
This has been a laughable year as far as sprint times are concerned.

LRC note. We have done the wind / altitude conversions and Bromell's time is worth a 9.86 at sea level as the wind is worth .05 and the wind is worth .05 according to **.

Don't you know why ? It's because Africa and it's diaspora
produce great sub 10 runners like an assembly line and they
they have great difficulty producing one.
I thought Bromell's win was a top moment of 2021 outdoor season, kind of surprised by the cynicism. I wrote a meet recap and tried to put Bromell's win in perspective, if anyone is interested: https://stridenotes.com/2021/09/18/recap-kip-keino-classic-nairobi-sep-18/?preview_id=847&preview_nonce=ecaa9e7b27&post_format=standard&_thumbnail_id=924&preview=true

Correct. I appreciate that this site and this thread are treating the race like no big deal, unlike other sites and especially the YouTube comments.
Bromell got off to his best start in months. But all of that is negated by how much ground he was losing at the end. That aspect in itself defined the time as phony. Nobody runs 9.7s and gets walked down at finish.
Likewise I'm not a believer in the Kenyan until he's running early not late.
I have to say the most amusing race of the day was 400 hurdles. Let's just say I understand why Kenyans stick to the steeplechase. The over/under was 5 chop steps per barrier.

The 'Is Karesten Warhom doping' thread was one of the longest running of recent times. Simply because he's white and runs fast, and a couple of Swedish women's cross country skiers got caught taking TUEs for asthma medication, and they were white too so he must be doping.
One black power poster repeatedly refers to Jakob as 'Yakob'.
The mods increasingly delete threads about Kenyan doping busts and ban posters for being 'racist' for highlighting doping in Africa.
So seems you just have the typical chip on your shoulder.

Did your altitude "conversions" take into account the difference in air density at the equator vs that of higher latitudes? Science matters.

It’s funny cause say one word about George and he bans you.
It's the thin calves. There is more money in sprinting than longer distances. I expect to see Kenyans start to dominate. By 2030 there will be 100 Kenyans under 10.0 seconds and the WR will be held by an Ethiopian at 9.4.

But for ME it's really bad.
