Stanford missing top 3 women, but wouldn’t have made any difference. It still would not have been close.

Stanford would win that 6K with Dudek healthy. But yes that would put them in 4th as a team.
Yes BYU is a phenomenal team-they did win but I would not call it domination. It was very evident that Stanford was out for a tempo run . They didn’t even speak up-furthermore didn’t even run their top three runners due to them having a longer season last year. So I definitely would not count them out come November.

Long way to travel and expensive for a tempo run but that appears to have been what they did. I understand they want to see the course before nationals but incredible expense and time invested.
I think Stanford Athletics is still having a hangover since Stanford beat USC for medals last month at the Tokyo Olympics. UCLA and Cal were 3rd and 4th.
Yeah, Stanford top runners not running, so not completely accurate.
Pretty impressive run by Ana Weaver.

And, us saying "top 3 runners" is an understatement for Stanford. Their redshirt Fr and true Fr both could run 1 minute faster than the winner of this race . Dudek is 19 min 6k and is literally still relatively new to running! And Dadamio is even faster also a Fr. Yikes. So their top 3 are likely top 3 overall in most races as well. Having said that, all respect to BYU, they are a monster. Should be an exciting nationals later this fall and hope everyone stays healthy!

So, your call is Dudek will beat Orton? Times today were not that impressive for anyone. But I bet Orton was just out for a jog.

$$ is something that Stanford is not short of.
Did the top three runners that didn't run stay at home? They sure couldn't see the course prior to nationals if they didn't make the trip. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Stanford ran that course in January.

This is some serious deep womens XC talk, but yes, my thought is Dudek started running in HS. She won the European championship as junior after running a for at most 24 months. Anyway, I think she has a huge upside to college training I guess. She dropped her 5k best 1 minute after heading to stanford for a few months. I was hoping she would quiet the Touhy talk at nationals last year as she was the true best Fr in the country at that time, but alas she got injured so we never got to see that battle. Again, hope everyone stays healthy...could be a great year on the womens side like we have never seen.

I have a hard time believing the BYU runners are anywhere near sharp for this one or that they went to the well here. They just didn't. They are scary good. They dominated everyone at XC last year, bring all 7 back, Orton is healthy AND they've added depth with Ana Weaver.

Incredible expense to go to a cross country meet? It's a few plane tickets and 2 nights in a hotel.
I would be willing to bet a lot of money that anyone on Stanford would not be able to beat Orton by a minute with everyone running their best. In fact, I think Orton would be the betting favorite straight up against Dudek.
Just for some perspective, here is the second place finisher who was just behind Orton. Pretty consistent 16:15-20 5K equivalent times. Maybe she has taken a step forward this year, but I don't think this time shows it.
Could’ve won but like totally tempo’d it.
Unless if she gets covid, buddy you’re about to learn she has taken a step forward this year. Was in all American position according to splits in Stillwater until the last 2k. So a respectable runner

To be clear, dudek would win, not the Team. Sorry.

No not by a minute, just saying, she has run very low 19s and based on her track, she is getting better very quickly. Before injury.
