Assuming he did leave BTC, what will he do in 2022? Back to his father?
Is this the vid?

Give me a break, it's obvious this group will come crashing down in a screaming heap of injuries.

He could certainly do so with his head held high. I saw something similar to the following stats the other day, and it kind of hit home as to how good he has been.
1:44, 3:30, and 13:00 +
Ncaa champ
Usatf champ (x 5? Outdoor, x2 indoor)
World champ (gold indoor/ silver, bronze outdoor)
Olympic champ (1st, 4th, 3 Olympic teams)
I guess I don’t understand why people here are always so quick to denigrate him. This dude has been really good on every level for a really long time. Time catches up with everyone. As a track fan, his personality is certainly much than some milque toast guy that is boring.

Agreed, he's definitely in my pantheon of great American distance runners. Outstanding career.
Successful people always move to Frisco or L.A.
I hope he focuses on 5k over next two years.
He has a 12:56 in him.
He'll go out real fast in the Turkey Trot.

Yup. Or Texas or Florida. No need to be amongst a bunch of 9-5 rat race sheep who brag on Instagram about having a dinner or getting vaccinated (LOL what an accomplishment) ) when you can be amongst successful people who not petty and like to have real fun/ live life without wasting time.

Or New York.
I think people want to see a Derek Jeter in Centrowitz.
Consummate professional. Highly competitive. So filled with poise. A multiple big-time winner.
They want the equivalent of seeing Jeter running out every ground ball like it was his last game, not Centrowitz attempting gimmicky events and races to psyche out his competition.
The thing with Jeter's end of career was that he had a walk-off hit in his final at-bat at Yankee Stadium. Centrowitz? He's limping out of 2021 on the downside of an illustrious career.

A good move would be back with family and training with Empire Elite, but I think he's dating his strength coach's daughter (ugh) so maybe he wants to stay in the PNW.
Would be a terrible move to leave BTC and stay in Portland.
empire elite is a flooring store. would be a good move to have a stable job
Disgusting. I can't stand Centrowitz. USATF should ban/fine him for this behavior.
Deca "leaves the system in 10 hours"? That's hilarious. Even if it was instead the short-estered NPP, it would be detectable for far longer than that.
Couldn't he move up to 5000? Surely he can run with Chelimo and kick better than him still. He still has a very smooth form. Just cannot kick as fast he did 3 years ago.
Thoughts on this stage of Centro's career.
He essentially took 2020 off. The year before he was a 13:00 5000 man and a world 1500 finalist, finishing 8th I believe. Not his best year, but still world class.
When an athlete at this level misses a year, it can an effect on their cumulative fitness. To come back and run decently in the trials (2nd to an emerging elite athlete in Hocker), and clock 3:49 is pretty good.
An argument can be made that Matthew can build on his 2021 fitness and improve from this year to next. The "X" factor is his motivation, his hunger and enjoyment in the pursuit of kicking A$$.

I'm a big centro fan but I'm surprised he was even seemed decently hungry this year. After you win the olympics like that, getting into your mid 30's etc... it's prob tough to get motivated besides the paycheck. I mean the dude won the olympic finals against dopers and some of the best ever.
He's finished as a mid-distance pro.
I could see him trying to move on to a coaching / longer-distance training gig.

This is the basic truth. Centro has had a tremendous career and deserves a lot of credit.
