Columbus on the whole is great. Huge growth over the last 15 yrs.
Pros:
Tons of places to train
Mountain biking everywhere
Foodie paradise
Lots of nightlife
Tons of jobs (jecht you should look at other banks/taking an MLO role, lotta demand there within banks or brokerages, dont be afraid to apply for a job you arent qualified for on paper. You'd be surprised)
Can be in the "countryside" in tens of minutes from downtown
Cons:
Cost of living is wayyy up
Property taxes are high - mine went from $5500 to $9k in 5 years. This is why i vote no on everything
BLM rioters destroyed downtown momentarily
Some less desirable neighborhoods, but generally New Albany, Worthington, Dublin, Westerville, Gahanna pretty decent
Somehow there are panhandlers at every corner over the last year or two
This is a good post. I've already put in some feelers with local banks.
BLM rioters messed up a little bit of downtown but it's coming back. Mainly it was Short North I believe.
Panhandling--I just ignore them and keep my eyes down, but I think they are there in every city.
Cost of living is up but I looked at other cities and decided Columbus isn't bad at all.
Food--yes, food choices are very diverse here, even more so than CLE.
Mountain biking? I know there are some good trails at Alum Creek, if that's what you mean. I may be wrong.
One of my friends likes skateboarding (Not sure if anyone here does that) and there's a good skateboard park literally on the side of one of the running trails here; it's random and just pops up.
