Younger Stafford ran an unofficial 8:50 3000m when races weren't sanctioned in Canada during covid. Dominated collegiate XC in Canada in 2019. Expectation that while she is an 800/1500 athlete, she still has a pretty good aerobic aptitude/potential.

Hall, Derrick, Quigley, Jorgensen, Hill, Houilihan all in a 12 month period. Look for infeld, Thompson, Fraser, Bartelsmeyer, and Johnson to follow Suite in the next 12 months- either by retirement or contract cuts.
I agree with everything but not Johnson. She is the youngest.

More BTC departures to come?
I bet Evan Jager and Lopez will be thanked and asked to leave

In the case of Amos Bartelsmeyer, wasn't he doing well with Andy Powell as his coach in Seattle? Wondering if he had to go run for Bowerman after he signed with Nike before the 2019 worlds & then finding out that Jerry's coaching isn't working out for him.
I get that Andy works for the University of Washington, which was a Nike school until 2019. Are shoe companies that anal about athletes working with coaches who have deals with competing companies?

LOYALTY???????
What have you done lately is the Nike way.
💯
Too many posters here think IG is reality. BTC is a workplace, not a low body fat Jersey Shore. Athletes who sign with Nike can be sent to Bowerman or any other group if that's what Nike wants, and Schumacher doesn't exactly have veto power over that and certainly nobody on the team does, either. It happened when Ritz was told to report to Eugene and then soon after was pulled from Hudson and sent to NOP. This is driven by the brand first and then the agents, coaches and other athletes are just along for the ride.
I'm not sure that this is exactly true regarding Ritz. Salazar had incredible pull on who came to his group and why. Obviously Nike said "who are our best prospects and who's our best coach?" Salazar wasn't the the renowned coach then like he was a few years ago, but Nike was playing with house $$$.

Best quote Ive seen in a long time!

Johnson is already gone. Joined Pete's group. Coaches frustrated at Johnson not buying into training, Johnson felt she wasn't going to adapt to the strength training. Seems mutual enough.
BTC already have lined up a replacement 2:00/4:02 800/1500m runner. Details being finalized.

If this is true, it's not particularly surprising. When she initially signed she wanted to stay in Oklahoma and train with Dave Smith for the rest of the year, but it seemed like once the pandemic happened and the Olympics were pushed back she decided to come to Oregon and "get adjusted" to the training. Never really seemed like she was excited to go and she raced like someone who wasn't bought in completely considering her talent level.
Hall is an interesting case. Ever since Doha 2019 she has been horrible. Not even close to the same runner. Running 5000m races slower than her 2019 10000m pace in a period when teammates were setting huge PR’s. Unfortunately my guess is that whatever “program” she was on through 2019 stopped.

This is the way it was told to me by someone else who was coached by Hudson at that same time.
I appreciate your more nuanced version. Salazar may have trotted out his best sales pitch at the behest of Nike bosses (Capriotti?) yet he also had an ace up his sleeve. NOP already had fellow Buff alumni Adam (Galen's workout rabbit) and Kara who had improved significantly after joining NOP and could sing the praises of the program for Ritz. Salazar knew he'd need another workout rabbit for Galen given how ragged all of Adam's systems had become and he knew (like everyone on this board at that time) that Ritz had been underperforming in the marathon under "marathon whisperer" Hudson.
As others leaving have implied, 29+ is around the age where an elite athlete's body just can't handle the stupid-heavy training load BTC demands anymore.
Their results look good because they have good athletes and Nike makes sure they're doping, so they succeed despite the coaching and training volume itself being objectively terrible.
They are hoping to get another female canuck that has had massive consistency and is suited the jerry training plan like frerichs
Seems like the are cleaning house of their "B" team athletes.
Yeah.
I think the purge is good, their team was getting way too big. Plus they need to make room for younger runners when they come of age. I hope the thing about Johnson isn't true. and Fraser is coming off of surgery. She shouldn't go anywhere.
There was a podcast I was listening to with Emily Infeld--I'd link it but now I can't remember what it was specifically.
But she was getting really candid about not feeling like she had enough 1-1 attention and that she felt she was doing too much in service of others.
Realistically, even with Colleen leaving when she did, none of this could have anything to do with drama, but just a natural progression of things.
But it really gets me...is there not ANYONE on BTC who is skeptical about this story...?

Surprised Johnson went to BTC in the first place, knowing their training philosophy is strength-based. BTC is no place for an 800/1500 runner.
Hall basically had a terrible last two seasons and totally lost her mojo . Johnson to me ( videos I’ve seen ) seems like a real diva . Honestly can I say I thought this from the get go . She ran pretty bad this year also . A descent 800 but that wait it .
Her generation will be shown the door quickly. They didn't progress during the pandemic vacation while a lot of nobodies and younger kids came crashing through the door.
She should be able to get a couple more years of sponsorship with one of the apparel brands. How many female black distance standout runners are out there? I would sign her if I was in charge of marketing for companies like Lulumon and Tracksmith.

Remember Betsy Saina? Jerry wrecked her too. Both of these women did not seem happy with Jerry and BTC.
