I was looking at the all-time for the high school 4x100, and the easy majority of times are from Texas high schools. Why is this?
IIRC, relays are worth double points at the state meet - does this have anything to do with it?

Whole lot of fast athletes and football players in state. Athletic success is encouraged. Warm weather year round. Lots of big high schools means lots of competition. Steel sharpens steel.
I think it has to do with the size of some of the schools. More fast kids to pull from.
