Beside just run fast.
I have a lot of athletes that want to run in college. I have some of the best athletes in my State. It just doesn’t seem that some of these big websites are talking about them the way they do other programs. Ideas?

Win and people will talk. And if they still don't talk, who cares. Apparently not many people if they're not talking about you. This is dumb to feel the need to have others talk about your team. That's not at all what it's all about. Build a family within your team, teach them life lessons, some of them may continue running in college and beyond and have healthy lives. Getting caught up in a bunch of hype is actually a negative thing to have happen. I don't know why you even want that.

Maybe they would need to be in a better state

So to review… They want to run in college. It’s not just about running fast anymore and people look. That’s an out of date philosophy. They are winning plenty but there wasn’t much to win last year (Covid).

They are in the best state.
Not getting publicity or articles is irrelevant. As a college coach/recruiting coordinator I can assure you no coach every found out about an athlete based on some milesplit article.
If your kids run good times at big meets coaches will find them. If for some reason coaches aren’t finding them have the athletes reach out to coaches/fill out recruit questionnaires at schools they are interested in and coaches will definitely get back to them if they are interested. A follow up email if you don’t hear from a coach is fine (if you are actually fast/competitive on their team).
As a hs coach the best thing you can do is get the kids in shape and running fast and into a few big invitational meets. Chances are college coaches will miss great times your kid ran at a random Wednesday duel meet but every legit team will have someone checking results of the big invites.
When in doubt just have kids email the coaches at the schools they like.
Good advice from most of the posts here.
We are number 1 in our state right now and we have no press so far. It's great to be honest. We can focus on training without distractions.

I wouldn’t say press is a distraction. It’s not like our team is Lady Gaga or something and we have the press following us home to take pictures or something. I just want them to get noticed so they have more college options. They have won two large invitationals already.
This is your answer. If your goal is to get college coaches to notice them then just run fast and reach out to express an interest in their program.
College coaches aren't reading articles looking for hot tips on athletes rk recruit.
Besides that, if you want to increase exposure for other reasons you need to reach out and make yourself available. Write press releases after races and send them to media outlets that you want coverage from and go from there. Everyone is always looking for content. If you make it easy for them they will use some of it.
Are there any big meets in your state or nearby states that get a lot of attention? Can your kids not outrun most of the others at those meets?
just do all the usual nonsense that attracts attention
1. wear outrageous uniforms
2 .perform dance routines
3. talk trash on social media
4. wildly celebrate wins
5. avoid any sort of behavior that would be considered sportsmanlike
The reality is unless your kids are running sub 4:10 and sub 9 (or equivalent times for girls) and winning extremely high caliber cross country races, your kids aren't going to be approached out of nowhere by all that many coaches. 99% of the time it's on the athletes to reach out to coaches and programs they're interested in, and then those coaches will start 'recruiting' the athlete.

Maybe they need to be in a worse state.
Another invitational win today to make it 3. I guess we just keep winning everything until everyone notices.
