I wasn't referring to you. I have read most of what you've written in this thread and while I don't agree with some of it, it's well thought out. The other person, not so much.
If you're advocating 20 miles at marathon pace, you're not really agreeing with CokeOverBeer though unless you happen to be be putting in 100mpw. I'm running a little more than half of that, and there's no way in hell I'd completely recover from that workout in 4 weeks. My thought is that most wouldn't.
I am almost 50yo, runs since short over 1 year and my long run is around 20k and i can train the next day, absolutely no problem.
So stepwise progressing up to 32k (20 miles) seems to me not so difficult and far from impossible.
But i don't care about marathon :)
