can I attend a NCAA institution and run at a njcaa school?

So I attend a division 1 sec school. I ran for a d2 school last year and transferred here as my major changed and I needed to be at a larger school for my major. I am not good enough to run on a sec d1 team. There is a junior college In our same town. I am not sure how the njcaa regulations work but lets say I took one class at the junior college while still attending the other college full time could I run on the njcaa team granted the coach wanted me??? I had a friend who did this sort of thing but I wasn't sure if it was actually within regulations to do.

You should start a club track team if your D1 school doesn't already have one. Or a club road racing team. 🤔

we have a club team but I would rather be able to be on a more competitive team (no one takes it serious). I have decent prs so I was looking if there was a sub elite group near us but there's nothing. my prs are 15:1x 5k, 25:2x 8k, 30:5x 10k so definitely good just not sec quality at this school at least. I could always transfer to another college but like not sure how I feel about that lol.

Sounds like you are by yourself then.

Not competitive enough to be on Varsity, but too competitive to be on the club team. I doubt the junior college team would be competitive enough for you.

I would guess you would need to be a FT student at the institution you are competing at regardless of level.

You can compete in races unattached, but training wise you are on your own. You have got to be on the cusp of being considered for a walk on spot - unless those are only granted to incoming freshmen. i'd try to take some time off your prs and see if you can walk on. The alternative is just training and racing on your own, even though you can prob beat a handful of guys on the school team or will if you continue to improve.

if your school happens to be the most northern SEC school you could probably walk on/try out. Email/contact the coach and they might let you try and earn a spot
