Well, with Hocker going pro, and a good chance Teare will follow suit, Oregon likely a long shot. I think BYU is the favorite, then NAU and Notre Dame. BYU returning everyone, while NAU loses 2 top guys in Ferro and Luis, but adding Kusche. Kusche an unknown, good at Big 10 but mediocre in NCAAs.
I would love to see Hobbs Kessler run for NAU, but unlikely.
Per Easton’s Instagram, dude was struggling with medical issues over the summer.
I'd say NAU is the favorite, but not big favorite like they've seemed to be the past few years.
They don't have the long list of returning all americans like they've had in some years, but they've got a pretty good lineup with some interesting potential pieces:
Nur (2xAA in XC, 3rd NCAA 10k, sub 28 twice last track season)
Young (4th at NCAA XC last year, Junior record in 5k (13:24?)
Bosley (22nd? in 2019, 13:43, only 60something at NCAA in 2020)
Hasty (placed in the 40s at NCAA in 2019 and 2020, 13:49)
If those guys run to form, they need just one of these guys to hit on the day:
George Kusche (3:57, 7:50)
Santiago Prosser (13:51)
Ryan Raff (29:13?)
Theo Quax (13:49, 3:39)
Caleb Easton (3:44)
Plus a nice freshman class (Groetehuis, Merchant, Sherer)
Raff and Bosley looked very strong at the George Kyte race (NAU yearly home opener), ahead of former Lumberjack, Matt Baxter. That's a short course (4.5 miles) at 7000 ft, so hard to translate that into sea level 10k at sea level in the cold. Kusche was 4th overall, behind Baxter (who is in marathon training mode, for what it's worth).

NCAA Champ is in FL so need to worry about cold there, regional in Provo and maybe not too bad there in early November.

Bosley is an absolute stud. Top freshman in 2019. Dinged up last year. If healthy he’s a top 10 individual this fall. He’s a difference maker for NAU.

Starts lists of individuals are up now.
Cooper Teare looked strong winning the Bill Dellinger Inivite today, he'll be a solid individual challenger.

Agreed. However, Mantz, Kiptoo, Wildschutt, Nico and Nur from NAU, all back and Alabama has 2 new Kenyans that look strong. Gonna be fun.
