Love you clowns with the "Oh it's her job" STFU. She doesn't owe you anything, you're not her boss. It's up to her and her sponsors whether or not she runs. She's obviously making plenty of money. Compare the Pre TV ratings to the Olympics.. don't think she was going to win any new fans by racing Pre. Literally every single person watching the Pre also watched the Olympics. She set two world records and dominated, there's no upside to running more this season.
if you want the possibility of permanent fans, you need to stay on the radar consistently. But NB pays her very well, so what is the upside to her?
It is up to track and field and the sponsors to put in stipulations that will encourage more racing.
The money makers in track for getting the best sponsor deals are the Olympics and Worlds. Sydney is both a spectacular athlete and a beautiful woman and just won the Olympics. She won't hurt for money anytime soon in our culture. From her perspective there is no reason to run that frequently and certainly not risk a defeat right after Tokyo. As a fan of quality track, I'd love to have seen her and Bol here along with Delilah but I get why they aren't.
To make track a top tier sport in America is something beyond any one athlete. I wish it would happen, as I watch every meet I can, but I'm not gonna criticize one athlete for optimizing her own situation.
