Hi! I'm super excited for this xc season but soon is a time trial...... it's a 2 mile time trial on the track :(((
I've never actually raced the 2 mile (only tempoed it after completing a mile PR).
I've been feeling OK this summer, not great, but have felt decent on the past two runs. However, my quads/hip are a but sore/stiff from doing a stretching thing wrong yesterday.... I'm planning on rolling a ton after time trial and just praying I don't wake up even sorer. Anything I can do? I'm hesitant to roll/stretch because I don't want to worsen things. We also did strides and I worry I'll be sore....
Aside from soreness, I'm really nervous. My coach wants thinks I and a few other girls should try low 6s per mile. My mile PR is 5:43 and my last mile race was like two months ago and I was gassed and ran a 5:51. I don't want to go out and kill myself on this time trial, so was planning on going out the first mile in 6:25 and trying to pick it up.... Any advice? What time should I aim for? I know time trials don't matter a ton, but I don't want to go super hard that I can't walk the next day but I also don't want to start out too fast and run really slow....
