If it helps with confidence, go for it.
Might be cool to write down and cross out new PBs on shoes/spikes. If you save all of them even after getting new pairs you can see how you evolve. I’m willing to bet that’s not a cockiness thing and more of what I just described.
I see lots of Instagram “InFluEnCeRs” that’ll throw on a pair of next %2s, a whole Nike OP kit, breaking2 arm sleeves, and a water bottle belt, only to run a 30 minute 5k, record a video of them sprinting to make it look like they didn’t just slog for 30 minutes, and record it with their brand new Garmin to top it all off.
These posters used to infuriate me cause I thought it was almost a disrespect to the sport in a way, but now I see it and think “if you want to spend $2,000 on your running kit so you can run some 9:30 miles, power to ya!” because gate keeping is dumb.
Fast runners need short shorts and good trainers. That is all.
