The minimal audience present for the Pre Classic doesn't care if it's in the afternoon or evening, except that the distance races need that evening weather. Why set up a mile for mid-afternoon in August?
I'm sorry to see that they have Tim Sein, Cheruiyot's personal pacer, to do the pacing duties in the mile. He typically gets out too fast the first lap, 53-54, then too slow the second lap, 58ish, and can't give anything the third lap. Why isn't Kerr in there? He's training locally in Oregon, right? Also, it seems that many of the major NB athletes, if not all, are missing, Purrier, McLaughlin, Simpson, Coburn. That's a shame. Moreover, there's no men's 5000m or 10000m. Why not? They used to put that up on Friday night and there isn't even a men's steeple. Why accede to Seb Coe's unpopular changes? Great, great fields in many events, though. The women's 100m is great, the women's 200m would be fun from an American perspective if Sha'Carri doubles back. The 800m at least gives Isaiah Jewett a chance, unlike the IAAF, which totally unfairly refused to reinstate him for the final in Tokyo after a combination of Korich bumping Amos and Amos tripping Jewett took him out. I hope that Hoppel is in better form now.
That 2 mile should be a barn-burner. I can't see 7:58 being broken but the meet record of 8:03 should be. I hope the Americans get under 8:10 at least and challenge Teg's really good AR of 8:07. Should be fun as well to see Michael Norman against Fred Kerley in the 100m. Strange to see 400m men with such good luck in the 100m. Both 9.8x men now.
