I have barely run at all in the 9 years since I last ran HS track/xc. I was a decent runner, ran around 50 flat 400m, 1:59 800, 16:30 5K at age 16-17 which was my last year of track/xc. Never had a proper offseason or 400m specific training so I feel like I never reached my potential due to bad coaching/biomechanical imbalances (scoliosis). I ran my 400m PR doing only 800m workouts in distance spikes.
I'm 26 now and I still have good speed/fitness for someone who doesn't run at all anymore, but I've been playing basketball with friends and have been wanting to get back into running to get my stamina up. I'm size 11 in men's basketball shoes and flatfooted/wide-footed. The last trainer I loved wearing was the Saucony Kinvara series. I use insoles in my running shoes so that has to be taken into consideration. Don't really have a budget because I'm willing to spend whatever on a good pair of trainers as long as my feet are happy.
