I completed my first workout on a grass surface in XC spikes and it felt like I was having a hard time running. The workout was 6x800 and I was hitting only around 2:45.
(Some Factors to note are that I just switched from being coached by an online coach to a highschool coach, my coach makes me do a 2 mile shakeouts every morning, the temperature was around 95, I didn't get a warmup in because I came late, and I run around 50 miles a week.)
However, when I run workouts like tempo runs on the road, I can average around 5:30-5:45 per mile for around 3 miles. So this raises a question. Are workouts harder on the Grass or am I just losing fitness?
