It seems that Coach Halter's racism cost the university $1.1 million; he needs to be fired tomorrow !!!
Sounds like a frivolous lawsuit from a disgruntled employee.

So much so that the school decided to pay out $1mil.
This happens all the time...Why hire someone of color and get sued?

S.O.P. for most schools. It is way cheaper to pay a settlement than it is to fight in court and potentially lose the case. In fact the school likely doesn't actually pay the settlement. The money would come from an insurance of sorts that all schools have to pay in these situations. Of course this is why we have so many of these lawsuits. Any lawsuit that is not going to be immediately thrown out or easily won in court will be settled even if the accusations are bogus.
It's a bad career move to sue. Now you'll have an extremely hard time getting new jobs because you have a bad reputation. Most of the settlement money will go to his lawyers, taxes will take a big chunk. Maybe he gets 200k total, but it will cost him MUCH more than that in career earnings.
From the looks of it the law suit, this has been dragging on a while and he hasn’t seemed to have had issues getting a job. USC and Mississippi State. PAC-12 and SEC jobs. I doubt those saying he’s going to have trouble moving around have ever had a job in a p-5. Plus anyone paying an assistant track coach over 1million dollars did SOMETHINGS Inappropriate. Insurance or not.
