Is there a goretex trail shoe that weighs around 9 oz or less?

Hm I don't think so. At least not anymore... I think there were some light and low minimalist trail shoes with GTX some years back that may have weighed around there but I could be wrong on that.
I'm sure you may know, but I believe the HOKA Challenger ATR 6 GTX comes in at 10.5 oz which is the lightest offering on the market.
check out Arc’teryx NORVAN series of trail running shoes. They all have Vibram LITEBASE and the brand works in tandem with GoreTex labs.
We’ve had almost all NORVAN versions over here and never let down..they are killer. Takes a while to break them in; LITEBASE sole start out stiff
SL - SuperLight 7oz in size 11
GTX - GoreTex models a bit heavier 9 - 10.5oz
LD - Long Distance 9oz

Most uncomfortable trail shoes on the planet, they took that title from Salomon.
If you can find 'em, here is OP's answer:
https://www.rei.com/product/149297/new-balance-summit-kom-gtx-trail-running-shoes-mensTrail shoe based on the 1400.
If you can find them:

I believe they come in right at 9oz.
Best Nike trail shoe, and every model since has been worse. My only drawback was if you are running trails with rock drops etc. the zoom pod at the front will blow, sooner rather than later.

I know that goretex is a familiar name but it is not even close to being the best waterproof material for running shoes. Goretex is too hot and is not able to breathe. eVent is far better because it is a membrane that can still transfer sweat vapor through it without letting water in. Goretex is a solid material and keeps the sweat in making your foot hot and wet inside the shoe
The Topo Athlete Hydroventures aren't Goretex but they basically are the same sort of tech, and at 9.6oz. Might be as close as you get.

I think you mean the Summit Unknown GTX. The Summit KOMs are bricks.
For what it’s worth, I had both the GTX and normal Summit Unknowns and far preferred the normal version. The GTX were stiffer (not in a good way), less breathable, and didn’t really keep my feet dry even when running through wet grass.
Ok, so leaving the goretex out of the picture, what trail shoe, around 8-10 oz, would you use for running 20 miles trail with some rocks on gravel?

Like the Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra Trail, has anyone tried it?
https://www.adidas.com/us/terrex-speed-ultra-trail-running-shoes/FW2806.htmlI’ve done ~15 miles in the Summit Unknowns (and have done over 800 miles total between two pairs). I just did 10 miles this morning in the new Hierro V5. While I do notice the weight of the Hierro compared to the Summit Unknown, what I notice even more is the rock protection of the Hierro vs. the SU. The Hierro simply absorbs the rocky trails near me far better which I imagine would become particularly useful nearing mile 20.
Both shoes offer considerably more grip than any road shoe I’ve tried especially in the mud and up steep hills. But if I didn’t expect to encounter much of either and not much in the way of rocks, I’d strongly consider a good long distance trainer.

Just got these, they are unlike any other Salomon shoe in very good ways:
https://www.runningwarehouse.com/Salomon_Ultra_Glide/descpage-SUGLM02.htmlYeah I have them. Very good door to trail shoe. I think Adidas' Continental grip is one of the best grips on the market so usable on anything up to overly tech terrain, but you can still run in them on roads or firmer surfaces at a road shoe tempo pace. Fairly flexible midsole so I find they are very good climb shoes too. Laces suck (come undone easily).
I've raced a 50k in them, I think Ruth Croft wore them in Western States. I wear them with trail drymax socks as they can feel a bit firm so thick socks helps with the cush. I think if I wore thinner socks I could go down half a size. The toe bumper can also rub on top of your second toe a bit after a while but not a huge deal.
Salomon Pulsar are also good. Lighter, less grippy but not a dissimilar ride. Probably better if its more runnable. Fit can be a bit sloppy.
Bit heavier (but still relatively light) and more purpose built trail shoe that is a goody is the Hoka Evo Speedgoat. Walmsley's shoe of choice. I like them but I (and others I know) find that with the stack of Hoka's, as you go longer and get tired, you have to ensure that you pick up your feet otherwise its easy to clip them on a rock or a root and eat sh*t.
Has anyone noticed any new road or trail shoe with goretex that weighs around 9 oz or less?
I came across these while searching for the Endorphin Speed (supposedly can accommodate my wide foot unlike most plated shoes). Not Goretex but claimed ‘water resistant’ and ought to be near that weight given the 8 oz. weight of the standard model:
I’ve bought and used these in snow slush. They aren’t completely water proof, since they’re ”open” next to the tongue, and the outsole could’ve been a little eougher on a shoe made for wet and muddy terrain. Besides that, they’re great!
