Turned 55 in July and plan to qualify for Boston again in Houston. I expect my time between 3:00 and 3:15. Anyone with genuine experience, would I benefit from using Vaporfly in the race?

Great shoe fit but not very stable. It will amplify any form flaws that you may have. Is you have a good strong neutral midfoot gait, get it.
If not, then the Hoka Carbon X2 or Asics Magic Speed is a better choice. Less super and a bit heavier but better for most older runners.
I'm now wearing stability shoes (Brooks Adrenaline) based on the informed suggestion of an experienced local running store owner who analyzed video of my footstrike. I've run a marathon in Vaporflies, and didn't notice any stability issues. Yes, you'll benefit a lot from wearing them, both at your pace, and especially at your age. I'm close to your age and target time, and the effect is quite noticeable, and the cushion is extremely welcome. I haven't tried other super shoes, but just based on the materials, I don't think Hoka compares.

As the OP says if you are a mid-foot striker with a neutral pronation then definitely give them a go. I am 50+ 3 hour marathoner and do all my running in them. Sadly it's not cheap as I go through about 6 pairs a year!
I'm 53 and bought a pair of Next % this year.
I ran a 10k time trial in them and they felt amazing. I reckon 2 to 3 secs per km.
Thanks for the feedback.
