Jakob still doesn’t have an explosive finish. It will be interesting to me if Tim doesn’t make it a drag race and tries to control races in the 3:30-3:32 range if Jakob will beat him. He hasn’t shown the ability to close in sub-13 for the last 100.

Gjert is definitely spanking Jakob after this one

Extremely arrogant statement from Gjert. Tim obviously suffered badly from his hamstring issues during the summer. Nice to see him shut Gjert up so quickly, both guys at 100% next year will be insane.
You guys are acting as though Tim won easily in 3:28 and reasserted dominance over Jakob, rather than holding on by a fraction of a second in a 3:31.
This was another Don Paige last race of the season over Coe. Tim a bit fresher and more motivated squeaks a relatively meaningless win.
Jakob is probably more pleased that it was confirmed that Katir off the juice is never going to get near breaking 3:30 again.

Why don't you stay on topic, for a change?
Gjert Ingebrigtsen: "Cheruyiot will never beat Jakob again"
Gjert is now eating crow.

Katir was exhausted at the end of the race (that was not a kick problem).
Good luck with your boggus predictions.

It will be exciting next year. It was a "stupid" comment by Gjert Ingebrigtsen. In the heat of his joy. One should never say never. Both great runners Timothy and Jakob might improve next year, and so also Stewart McSweyn, never afraid. It was those who wrote that Katir would never run sub 3.36 again. But he did a decent race in Zürich (even he has been the target of many unsubstansiated claims) , one American better than his 3:32:77 this year. And both Hocker and Kerr will probably be better next year. And hopefully some Africans. And Filip. 1500 meters will rise to another level next season.

You know why I will never stand by the side of nations like yours?
You are the nations big fishes that eat the small fishes.
Give Kenya or Morocco or any other African nation to organize a big event like (Olympic Games, IAAF World Championships ...) and let me hear the news.
What ever you do, your nation and medias are corrupt.

Cheruiyot was nowhere near his top ever form in Tokyo and Jakob was.
Serindipity for Jakob but Gert completely whiffed by making absurd comment about Tim never beating Jakob again.
Jakob is probably still a second or two from his potential best at 1500 so it will still be exciting to watch the next few years between the two.
Hopefully Jakob is still focusing on 1500 in Paris so we can see Kerr, Hocker and Jakob at their peak!
(Cheruiyot will be fading at 1500 by Paris)

Coevett, your rant does nothing to debunk the post you responded to.
Tim shut Gjert up.
Anyway, I thought you were admitting defeat and leaving and never coming back?

Coming off 18 months of full throttle EPO will do that to you.
Dad talked junk. Dad was wrong. Most people who talk junk are wrong, and they are always boring. Dad can eff himself.
That said, Jakob was gracious in defeat. Full credit for having more class than his father does.
Dad needs to recognize Cheruiyot was hobbled all season. Jakob still has work to do because even if he gets into 3:27 shape if he can’t summon a kick in these 3:31 type races he remains vulnerable. A healthy Cheruiyot is 13-1 lifetime against him because in all but 1 race his final 150 and 50 were not good enough.
Jakob ran a bit wide and Tim should have been DQed at the line. Jakob will never lose to him again. This one shouldn't count.

It's 13 - 2. Are you saying the Tokyo or the Prefontaine Mile was the 'not healthy' Tim.
What is the adult head to head between the two? Something like 4-2 to Tim?
Jakob wasn't healthy in Monaco, so let's make that 3-2 to Tim.

Yes, Tokyo was the "not healthy" Tim.
People are mistaken if they think it is about the kick. The race was already won heading into the last lap. Cheruiyot was in control and Jakob was just holding on. My guess is just the sign that it is the end of racing season and time to start getting back to work. It will be great to watch in future seasons if both of them can stay healthy. There are obviously others there also who can help. McSweyn has been strong all season.

Never say things like this even if it's the close of close of your friends.
Say Jakob is lucky right now having got a good season.

What have been a rule for 40 years can't be broken is the space of a night.
Continue to pursue and dream of your big white hope and good luck.
