Why is everyone so sure the final will be fast? It makes sense to go hard in the semi as you can weed out the kickers and still qualify, but in the final, going out hard and getting 4th doesn't get you a medal.
If you've seen Cheruiyot and McSweyn run at all, you'll know they only ever do one thing, and that is push the pace. At the very least, those two will ensure the pace is sub-3:30. The other might hang back a little and just let those two do the work, but even kickers like Kerr will need to keep the gap pretty minimal.
And yeah, Cheruiyot goes out hard and wins. It's up to the field to do something about that
