I agree, I think this was more of a factor than his tactics. Even in the first lap, he didn't look like he had it.
Murphy was having a tough season prior to the trials. He had to peak for the trials and I assume he did. Trying to hold that until the games, or trying to back off then re-peak, or whatever approach, it had to be very tough.
When I saw his Diamond League races I assumed he was training very hard and racing because tactically he was super but went dead in the final 150 of those races.
I thought he was ready to pop something bigger than the trials and he may have been. I believe you only have 2 moves in an 800 and when you use them pushing and shoving and are sitting last I am not sure how you find additional moves to 1)Get in kicking position and 2)Kick with guys who have been resting for the most part.
Tough race for Murphy yet I am still proud of his effort.
