Isn't that what you folks on here always say when someone has an off day.

Second to last water jump she was dead-legged. She got discouraged and devastated. Hard to push when your mindset goes into that mode, I don't care what level it's at. She just wanted to get the race over with.

She said her body shut down halfway through. She wouldn't be the first American who has been caught out by conditions in Tokyo. The lack of a holding camp has really hurt some athletes

Hmm. Seems like she pulled a Biles. She flaked. She realized she wasn't in the hunt for a medal. That Courtney was racing and she wasn't up to task for some reason. So she basically gave up. I'm sad for her but this was her 3rd and final Olympics. She was a great steeplechase and did a lot to put womens steeplechase on the map i the U.S. but Courtney is now top dog, premiere womens steeplechase now. Congrats to her!
I’ll take the bait. You’re probably one of those “I ran in college” kinda guys who thinks they could beat the steeple women at women’s height.

a case of the twisties while she was mid-air
You can't be serious! Frerichs took the silver in the current Olympics. She holds the American record. She is the premier USA womens steepler now! She has clearly taken over the number one spot if Emma even had it before, Emma has been fantastic and it's her 3rd Olympics but somewhat like her CU alum, Jenny Simpson her star is fading.
Twisted lol.

Yep. She pulled a Biles. Easier to claim self care than admit to yourself that your not competitive in today's challenge whatever it may be.
Coburn is obviously in better shape than what she put out there today, and with the exception of this race she’s always been a solid/consistent competitor. And the same goes for Biles—who happened to win a bronze medal yesterday buddy.
Tough crowd here! Who knows what was going on. Maybe she had the flu. Maybe she had an injury. She is human and its been like 1,000 degrees and humid in Tokyo! She had a bad day so maybe step off until you know what happened. I am sure none of you have ever had a bad race. Who cares who is the queen of the steeple! Both great runners and deserve more respect. She will be back! And just bc she does not get a medal at the Olympics does not tarnish her career or legacy. Very few of the best runners ever have an olympic medal.

Stop with the excuses. OMG, no camp, how horrible!
Everyone knew the Olympics were being held in Tokyo for the past 5 years, plenty of time to plan time in heat and humidity. That is no excuse.

lol this was the second time Courtney's ever beaten Emma but ok
Coburn and mcgee(heats and today) looked terrible, something is up
These races happen. They aren't machines out there.
This is only the second example, but I do wonder if Coburn has a mental issue if Frerichs challenges her early in a race? Seems similar to the Monaco race where Frerichs set the AR, and Coburn had a terrible race. In fact, that might have been her last bad race before today? How is it that Coburn only has bad races when Frerichs rises to the occasion and is ahead of her early? (I know the London WC are a counterpoint to this, but in that case, Coburn was clearly on and Frerichs didn't challenge until the last lap.)
Huh? Probably not. Your Probably one of those people who didn't make it in college and comes on here to spar and try to elevate your low self esteem 🙃.
Lol. Your just now understanding that this is a tough crowd?

We'll see you out there showing us all how it's done, speedy. Go ahead, do it.
