9:01 in 90 degree/highhumidity is blistering fast, which is why the rest of the field, full of sub-9 women, was spread-eagled, while Chemutai looked like she was out for a stroll with an iced tea.

If you believe everyone is a drug-cheat at the Olympic Finals level, then would you agree that the playing field is equal?
It was a nice performance but Frerichs did a ton of work and Chemutai just saved up for a kick...we've kinda seen this play out many times before.
I don't know if you were looking at Hassan properly because she looked exhausted after the 1500 to the point where both of the announcers called it out that she looked spent.
I’m noticing blue check running Twitter isn’t as enthusiastic about frerichs….
Some journalists have said basically nothing at all…

Gutty or stupid? Did she cost herself gold by going toobh and hard and dying that last 150?
Beating Kiyeng, Yavi and Coburn to me means it was a great move. It took a career-best performance from Chemutai and if Frerichs had won it would've been because of the jump she got on the field with the move. If she leaves it late, I doubt she gets Silver.

Doping doesn't affect everyone exactly the same way. Some are bigger responders than others. They don't all take the same stuff in the same way. They are also trying to beat the testers and stay within the biopassport. Doping doesn't produce a level playing field, anymore than a black market produces fair business practices.

Barely anything from NBC either. Imagine if this were Coburn...

Frerichs does not have a kick. This tactic was her only chance for a medal.
I'm giving BTC the benefit of the doubt until the second positive comes out. That said, I like Frerichs and she's always been a top steepler who got a relatively late start in the track game.
I'm more sus about the winner, but to be honest the top dogs bottled it big time today.
Honestly have more reason to doubt Frerichs than the winner. Am happy that both are in the AIU list and get tested. There have been no doping positives from the Kampala camp, which has many great athletes and they race at more meets with testing. Whereas with Bowerman, we have more athletes who are not in the testing pool and very infrequent racing. And then of course Shelby...The burrito IG post someone shared is pretty hilarious. Intentional? I don't know.

she needs to stop mentioning Shelby in every dang interview. I get that *she* thinks Shelby is innocent, but she was still banned and it's disrespectful to the sport and her competitors.
So who has the better resume?
Coburn with an Olympic Bronze + WC Silver + WC Gold
or
Frerichs with an Olympic Silver + WC Silver + AR
A push?
It isn't disrespectful if she is innocent.

What odds would you give that Courtney has an Olympic Gold Medal in her mailbox before Paris 2024?
Slim; I don't see any reason Chemutai is suspicious, it's just a weak year with the Kenyans in poor shape
Frerichs did a lot of racing this year, comparatively. The top runners just really didn't have it this time around. Kinda crazy for an Olympic final.
It would be funny if Courtney to her friend was like mention I eat breakfast burritos with you to give me cover. But really, I think it's just a funny coincidence ...

Agree...great guts race by Frerichs...definitely deserved her medal...yeah the 3rd and 4th runners were closing hard but ran out of room. She had to make an early move to medal and it paid off!

Coburn's streak of (9? 10?) consecutive U.S. titles should go on her resume too, at least when comparing her to Frerichs.
I'm really happy for Courtney. Being from Albuquerque, I followed her and their great NM XC team. She wasn't even the top runner on the team and now has exceeded them all.
Now, I'm really rooting for Kerr (another NM Lobo) to have a great race.
PS. I think she's clean.
Beautiful race!
