Gutty or stupid? Did she cost herself gold by going toobh and hard and dying that last 150?

An American who thinks there's something other to tactics than "jog until the end, then sprint"? I am genuinely surprised.
A great race, I figured she would get caught for the gold, but was so rooting for her to hold into the silver. Now that's a runners with both heart and smarts.

What could they learn?

After the way she defended Shelby this made me feel physically sick to watch.
I will never celebrate this medal. Whether she’s doping her not, her defense of a convicted drug cheat was disgusting.
For undermining the anti doping procedure, her coach deserves a lifetime ban more than AlSal. BTC is a bigger stain on the sport that NOP
Oh do shut up

No one cares. We're excited.
Absolutely. I am excited for each and every American medal for track & field.
Really happy for Frerichs, who was the best runner on the best women's NCAA cross country team ever, 2015 New Mexico. I think this is the best result ever at the Olympics for a former Lobo in track and field.

Hey Webb had the patented all out sprint with like 700 to go...
American tactics are limited by being slow compared to their competitors. Chepkoech isnt what she was and nobody else had a PR much better than hers. You can think about tactics when your equals. When your PR is 20s slower, there isnt anything you can do.

Ha! So true. I was in the same high school league as the California State mile champ. Tactics were never an issue.
Her own coach said she couldn't look at NOP without doubt then one of their own gets popped and we aren't allowed to have doubts? BTC sides with drug cheats when its on their team.

Take a wild guess
fantastic effort on her part and now adds Olympic silver to the collection. I didn't see that coming because Coburn was in such great shape. Maybe the extra days in Hawaii made the difference in climate adaptation for Frerichs over Coburn.

What odds would you give that Courtney has an Olympic Gold Medal in her mailbox before Paris 2024?
Might depend on burrito saga….
the runner that is always accusing others of cheating is the most suspicious in my judgement.

you didnt take the league meet out in 57 to break him and the hold on for the win?😂
Now at national level you can question their tactics a lot more. You dont have to front run the whole race but if you have a slow last 400, make that last 1000-2000 hard...

Not good. If the Addy Ruiter group is cheating, the carnage will be gigantic. That’s Cheptegei and many big names and it’s a camp run by Global Sports Communication the biggest distance agency in the sport (Hassan, Gidey, Kejelcha, Kipchoge, Kamworor, Kipyegon and more).
The thing that makes Chemutai, Hassan, etc. look like they are almost certainly drugged up is that they can do "superhuman" things, change gears, kick hard at the end of an already world class fast race and drop everyone, all while looking like they are out for a jog. After crossing the finish line others are falling over in exhaustion, sweating profusely, sitting or crawling....while Chemutai and Hassan, etc. in their respective races look like they haven't exerted themselves physically at all. They are fresh, bouncy, walking or hopping around like they are getting ready to race, not like they just ran a 1500m or 3000m SC or 5000m or 10,000m in the Olympics. They don't even try to hide it or fake it.
It was a 9:01, it wasn't superfast by global standards. Chemutai had a strong kick but the pace was not superhuman by any stretch. Coburn is probably so upset because she knows that if she executes correctly, she could have taken gold in a race of this pace.
