Hard to believe, but even better race than last night’s men’s race. Right? So now this is the greatest track race ever….
The women's 400 hurdles world record is still a little soft. It's 4 seconds slower than the 400 flat world record, while the men's 400h world record is only 2.9 seconds slower than the 400 flat world record.
And Sydney would have run .2 faster if she hadn't stutter stepped the 9th hurdle.
I’m not sure of the methodology behind the IAAF scoring tables, but yes, according to them Warholm’s record is “better” than Syd’s. If you are basing your conclusion that 45.94 is better than 51.46 because of these results relative to the flat 400 records, the women's hurdle record is 7.5% slower and the men’s 6.3%, so not much difference. Also the women’s flat 400 record is one of the most doped records ever. However, my main point was that the women's race was a better race in terms of the battle between first and second. The outcome was more in doubt until the last few meters and the finish closer. Rai ran great, but Warholm was in the command and the outcome was less in doubt down the home stretch. Syd had to overcome Delilah at the very last moment and Dalilah looked to have the win in hand through hurdle 10.
