think it could be his natural event as a white guy without top end 100m speed.
that 400m h race showed me he could really crush the 800.
Thoughts?

You’re an idiot!
no man, he should move up to the 800 to find real success right?
if there is another distance he can medal in, he should think about it. would strongly enhance his legend status. but he should know for sure before taking a chance like that.
more likely, he would wait until it's too late and move up after he isn't good enough for gold in 400h. and it definitely won't work if he does that.
too jacked and heavy for it, his 600 is probably very impressive id guess like 1:13
This is in the running for most on-brand letsrun post ever.
Should bob Beaman have done the triple jump instead
he should definitely take a shot at 600m record. dip his toes in the water just a bit.
if he lost a bit of mass he could probably compete for gold in paris.
it could be his best event...he should make the switch in my opinion
He would absolutely medal in the flat 400. Would he win or not is the question.

You have to ask: Why do 400m &/or 400mH athletes move up to 800m? Four-hundred metre and 400mH athletes do not move up to 800m to impress letsrun fans of 800m, 400m & 400mH hurdle athletes who move up, move up due to lack of confidence in one's 400m &/or 400mH ability. Look back at elite 400m &/or 400mH athletes who moved up, none were gold medalists & world record holders in 400m &/or 400mH. Alberto Juantorena never would have moved up 1976 Olympics if Juantorena would have earned Olympic 400m gold, 1972 Olympics. Same can be said for Jarmila Kratochvilova and Sigrun Grau. Four-hundred metres &/or 400mH athletes have clear path races. They race in their lane the entire way. More elite 400m &/or 400mH athletes would consider moving up to 800m, IMO if 800m were a four turn stagger event.
This dude can probably run 43.5 and 1:41.0. Just an insane talent.

He could certainly run 43.xx, maybe 43-mid after tonight’s insane performance.
I agree with the poster who said he should take a low-pressure crack at the 600m World’s Best, but of course I’d say that.
As for the 800, maybe I’m a fool but something tells me he could run 1:44.xx if he applied himself for a few months. Not as fast as 48.xx 400-hurdlers Patryk Dobek or Brandon Johnson, because he leans more toward the 400, but still highly respectable.
Yes but only if he was coached by Jeremy Wariner.
Just run some flat 400s first. See how that goes.

Let's see who shoves who off the track between him and Vazquez.

According to the news he has already said he wants to run an 800, and rumours have it he has run faster than the norwegian record in the 600m, during a workout...
Id bet his flat 400m is in the ball park of 43 low. He can run a 600m id say in 1:10.90 or faster and an 800m in 1:43 guaranteed maybe 1:41.

He ran his 400 flat PB in 2017 @44.87s. That year he ran his best 400mH in 48.22. Considering he now is 2.25s faster in 400mH, he may have the potential to reach a low 43?
Dude wins Olympic gold medal and shatters world record. LetsRun crowd’s first instinct is to think he should switch events.
