So an existential question for nearly all American distance runners....what's the point? If your best is so far off a global medal, and you have no chance of every closing the talent gap, why bother? There are probably easier ways to earn a living.
They did run well in an Olympic final.
They were in it as long as they could.
One PR’d and one was close to her PR in not ideal conditions.
Women in the last couple of years have been getting a taste of international competition that the men have had for many years.
Most that post would give their eye teeth to be a professional runner for a few years of their life and make it to an Olympic final.
