4:15.87 mile pace over the last 1km.; Her effort was worth if even .. 14:20.73 ; Last 2 km … @ 14:00 pace.; I’ll stop.
Brussels DL final 2019 was 10 sec. faster 14:26 for Hassan and 14:29 Gidey and Koko, and the last km was also faster, about 2:38 for Gidey and thus probably 2:34 or faster for Hassan who had almost missed Gidey's break 3 laps before the end. And I think this was before the latest iteration of Nikes superspikes (that facilitated all the WRs in 2020-21, only one very short-lived of which was set by Hassan).
Now you can start factoring in the weather, but as 3 others were running within 3 seconds of Hassan today and a young almost unknown Italian was running 14:46 PB etc., so not everyone is equally suffering from the heat.

Very informative post. I really do hope and pray this stuff works!
I am not saying that there is "nothing to see" wrt Hassan.
But this 5000m race was really playing into her hands and in no way very special compared not only to the DL race I mentioned but certainly to a bunch of other DL or big finals of the last 5 years. There have been several with faster times, several with faster last kilometers and some faster in both aspects like Brussels 2019 (and probably London in the same year? or 2018? in one Hassan was narrowly beaten by Obiri but the time was low 14:20s)
.......but never with a race of 1500m at the level of 3'58" (looking at her last 300m after falling down) only 11 hours and 50 min before the final. And in this case she ran the last 300m only.
I don't know if I've ever seen a more noticeable difference in stride and turnover than the final 200m of the Womens 5000m yesterday. Hassan was accelerating past Obiri so smoothly and with such a long stride, it almost looked like she was loping. And Obiri was working so furiously to catch Hasan, it looked like she was in a spin class at max RPM. Crazy to see the difference in their form.
