That’s how it struck me, but I never knew there was an option for both athletes to share the win. I’ve always seen jump offs.
Those are the rules. Good for them. Not the first time there has been a shared medal.

Idk…I don’t know if I’d want to be known the rest of my life as “sharing” the gold. Too much ambiguity.

barshim was actually the one that asked the official if they could split. italian was clearly happy with that decision too. it was a nice moment tbh, but do think its kind of weird to share a gold.
