Easily. 1.43x and then a 1.44 walk in the park. I will stick my neck out and say no one will match his finish.

So far it looks like Rotich’s doping regimen has been timed to perfection. He has that look of reckless abandon that only the best jet fuel can give a runner. Ask Ramzi.
Obviously TPTB are also rooting for Amos, which is why he was dropped into the final when he should be sitting in the stands. Jewett got screwed.

Hello Coevett!
You spelled Murphy wrong
Amos is back he has a chance, but Rotich looked unstoppable, even celebrating through the last 20m

At 2.30 a.m. Tokyo time?
I don't think so.
He was ridiculous that last 50m. IN more ways than one.

He made the guys in front of him look like they were standing still. I would say he has 1.42 in him if he is pushed.
Is this supposed to be a bold prediction?
Congrats on picking the insanely overwhelming favorite. Want a job at ESPN?

I guess you don't really follow track, where just about anyone in a final can win. Favorites often don't. Did you pick Amos's fall? Or Jacob's win in the 100m? Or even Simon Bile's withdrawal. You may have noticed I'm quite good at picking dopers, too.

You are quite good at accusing every good performer of doping. It's a completely different matter. By accusing everyone you call yourself good whenever one gets caught.
Lame.
Is Rojas a doper? Mamona? Peleteiro?
You never make sense. You picked the favorite. Check the betting odds.

I can pick a whiner. Like you.

I'm not interested in the betting odds. I have watched the heats and semis and the way Rotich is running he is way ahead of anyone else. That is no guarantee he will win an Olympic final. He could make a bad decision. Or get tripped. But the final is now looking his to lose. I wouldn't have said that before the Games.
I got Murphy catching both the last 50m . Hands down best kick in the field ! Amos will take it out and fade .

I’ve said this in a lot of 800 threads months ago and I’ll say it again Peter bol finishes top 2

Wahhh he is faster than Snell so he is doping.
Waaaahh he would have lapped Halberg in the 10.000 m so he is doping.
Man, you are the professional whiner on Letsrun.
I said man but you sound like a kid throwing a tantrum every time someone runs faster than you deem possible without doping.

All good picks but no one has yet mentioned Dobek.
He didn't look that dominant in his semi and his stay-close-to-the-rail tactics may backfire, but they have worked before and he is certainly in good shape.
Well I mean it helps when the biggest rival in the event is taken out. No offense to Giles or aging Tuka but a true 1:42 guy is going to make them look silly if they’re on their game. I still think Murphy has something in store for the final.

He looked way better in his semi then in his heat at least. He won his heat and he's for sure a medal favourite. And the only way Rotich doesn't win this is if he's cooked after 1:43,7 and 1:44,0
