I haven’t seen any video, but this doesn’t sound like a BJ’88, where he let up in the quarters and qualified on time, finishing third.
Ok this track seemed fast when the women were on it, but maybe that wasn’t the track. Bromell is not a 9.77 guy, and he knows it. The track in Eugene might be really fast, lol welcome to Eugene, what is old is new again. Looks like we might be back to the Eugene-13.
Of course Bromell is excellent, but he’s a 9.8x-mid/high guy at best, IMO. That he went 10.0x-mid is not worrisome, that he had to qualify on time, is. Tough to say what the deal is, could be anything. He may still advance out of semi’s, and it is the final that counts.
Check out ADG, though—9.91! WTF I think that ties his PB, but with less wind maybe. What happened to him playing rope-a-dope? Holy crap all of a sudden he looks like not just a medal contender, but an actual threat for gold. He MUST relax, he doesn’t have thé musculature to push it.
If someone other than Bromell wins, I would love to see them credit their victory to Bromell’s belief in God.
