is there another morning session thread, 400 in 15 min
Made my own thread. I can see why we only had the steeple thread and not a nighttime (US) thread. Your 400 men were ordinary.

Oh, don't pretend to be ignorant. It's unbecoming. You know very well what she said about representing the US and why she said it. You're just trying to back away from it as a liberal position. You have to own the good along with the bad, effendi. That's the nature of the world.
I think I just missed what she said at the beginning. I was so distracted by her whole face being covered. But love for representing your country is not liberal or conservative. Wearing a mask should also not be liberal or conservative, so that's my bad. (although these days it's exhausting how everything is one side or the other)
I interpreted what she said is taking a shot at conservatards, for not getting vaccinated and protesting wearing masks, she was showing how responsible she is, and have caring she is of others celebrate protecting her health via a mask and being vaccinated. I saw her other comments as a win for the little the little person, the every person, that if you work hard you can overcome the privileged, and rise up and shine and make it to the Olympics!
She was like a meet Jane Doe!
I stalked her LinkedIn page and she has a a degree in Environmental Engineering. Don't conservatives hate environmentalists?

Total moron. She looked fine and easily got the auto qualifier without expending unnecessary energy. She's a hell of a lot smarter than you especially since you're sitting in your mom's basement watching her race from the couch most likely with Cheeto dust all over your hands. Even if the final result isn't fine she's the best shot the US has of getting a medal in any distance race. Where are you again? Right.
She didn't look that great, ok? It's a fact regardless of the amount of Cheeto dust on my hands.

Don't wake up with an orange peen. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Coburn did what she set out to do. Qualify for the final with the least amount of effort. None of the women from the three heats looks wobbly-legged like Tiernan. Were the conditions to Coburn's liking? Probably not, but it is what it is. Who care how anyone looks?

Neither could I ;)

Perhaps I care, which is why I (and several other posters I might add) commented on it.
All elite runners are fit but Coburn has to be in the top three fittest at middle distance.
I really would like to see what she could do to a 5000 eventually after a few more tries for learning curve.
steeple prelim highlight video from NBC
There was no reason for her to go any faster. She is a legitimate medal threat.
Except for Chepkoech with considerably weaker performances in the DL and lots of tape on her legs today, everyone among the top 8 looked in very good shape (and Chepkoech might still be strong enough to get a medal). Only Kirui and Moller (apparently not close to her 2019 9:13 shape) missed the final among those expected to get in. Very gutsy PB by Lalonde who had to run most of it alone between the leading group and the rest.
Of the top 8 Coburn, Frerichs, Krause, Chepkoech, Kiyeng, Yavi, Abebe, Chemutai all can medal. I still think Kiyeng and Coburn are strongest this time with the rest battling for bronze. But one never knows.
I am pretty sure that not even Kiyeng will dare an early lead in sub 9 pace but it might get quite fast with about 4 laps to go as the stronger runners would be foolish to keep everyone around until the last lap.
By all rights, Chepkoech should be moved up to the bronze for 2016 with Jebet banned. They really need to re-test 2016 samples.
Coburn showed with her 2k at altitude and then the shot at 9 flat where she stumbled over the last jump that she was in exceptional condition, the best of her life, and ready to contend for the gold with Chepkoech not in 8:44 shape. Weather is an issue, however.
But weather is for everyone. I think the hot and humid weather will be one more cause that Kiyeng or Yavi would nor dare to force a fast pace early on which should improve Coburns chances in a fast finish.
