I've almost lost count of the busts already at these Games, but if you look at the three cases :
Blessing Okagbare with that ridiculous 10.62 at age 32.
Alex Wilson after running 9.84 out of nowhere in a season full of 10.3 to 10.5 times at age 30.
Mark Otieno after running 10.05 at the Kenyan trials, a pb of over 2/10ths of a second at age 28. The only other Kenyan in history faster than 10.27 is a convicted doper himself.
The first two's suspicious performances actually had threads here devoted to them at the time. Mark Otieno's 'breakthrough' was certainly noted here with suspicion too.
It's a good sign that obvious dopers are getting caught. This to me suggests that contrary to the views of some who interpret these busts, NOT everybody is doping.
Unfortunately, it does tend to be the obvious sprinter cheats that are getting busted. I would assume this is because it's harder to microdose roids. More Kenyans are getting busted for roids than EPO, which is obviously ridiculous.
Hopefully we'll see at least one or two distance busts in the next week, such as Katir and Siffan Hassan.
