USATF will undoubtedly do a post mortem of all the events, but this one sticks out. Only one U.S. woman, T. Daniels, broke 11 seconds, and that was only in the semis. She was the only U.S. finalist and finished 7th in 11.02. The women weren't just beaten, they were overwhelmed. There are a number of different possible explanations. One is that they all just peaked at the U.S. trials and didn't have another gear for the Olympics. It seems that there are never any shortages of threads on Let's Run that point doping fingers at various athletes, so I'll leave that to the resident geniuses. Regardless of the reasons the U.S. women were a big disappointment.
